Australia’s “Mecca”, Central Software Cooperation, and Product Lifetime Management

MECCA, Australia’s top beauty retailer, chose Central Software’s product life cycle management (PLM) solution. Centric software provides the most innovative business solutions for product planning, research, outsourcing and sales management to achieve strategic digital transformation goals.

Founded 20 years ago, Mecca has re-established beauty in Australia and New Zealand and has launched more than 200 brands, including its signature lines Mecca Cosmetics and Mecca MAX. Mecca sells cosmetics, skincare, hair care, perfume, body care, and accessories through stores in Australia and New Zealand, online, and TML in China.

Mecca judged that the process for compliance and traceability needs to be improved through rapid growth of the beauty and healthcare markets, changes in consumer trends, and expansion of product portfolios. Therefore, Mecca decided to cooperate with PLM to develop an integrated quality management system that can simplify the process and focus on managing ingredients, product claims, and certified data.

David Cumberland, Mecca’s financial manager, said, “We can build our businesses to meet current and future customer requirements under backend systems such as Central PLM. Centric PLM will provide a comprehensive end-to-end solution to handle large amounts of product launches while at the same time complying with strict regulations, he said.

Mecca aims to simplify compliance with products and raw materials through cooperation with Central PLM, systematize processes related to labeling and product claim verification, and automate the collection and storage of certification.

Chris Groves, president and CEO of Centric Software, said, “We are very happy to cooperate with Mecca. In particular, Mecca recognizes the strength of Centric for compliance management. We look forward to working with Mecca in the long run to expand the scope of PLM across the business,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mecca has been leading retail innovation since its establishment in Melbourne in 1997. Founded by Jo Ho-gun, the powerful retailer has more than 100 Australian and New Zealand stores and offers the world’s best beauty products through Mecca Cosmetics, Mecca Maxima, MECCA, mecca.com.au, meccabeauty.co.nz, and China’s mecca.tmall.hk.

Silicon Valley-based Central Software provides a consumer digital transformation platform for consumer goods, including fashion, retail, shoes, luxury, outdoor, home appliances, cosmetics, personal care, and food and beverage.
